Gettin Dialed In

Are you ready for some football? Yes its that time of year again. Time to sport the shades. Check out the forum boards and listen to the call in shows. Saturday marks the kickoff of yet another season for the Cougs when the Northern Iowa rolls into town for the panthers 1000 game in school history. They aren't just coming to visit Five Guys Burgers and Fries either. The Panthers are coming to town with a purpose in mind. Starting sophomore DE James Ruffin (6.4/265) says "we're going down there to win". Strong words? Well they are ranked #4 for their division. We all saw what happened to Michigan on the wolverine turf at the hands of Appalachian State last year. Tom Holmoe has said that "Northern Iowa is not a cupcake. I will guarantee you that". David Nixon also isn't taking the Panthers lightly when he says "we will be in for a dogfight". In fact Austin Collie furthers that "on any given day any team can win". Yes, there may be roughly 60,000 Cougar fans to witness the mark of a new season. On the other hand offensive lineman Bob Swift (6.6/315) states "we just need the people who are on the field to believe we can win". Panther coach Mark Farley cites that BYU will be"the best team we've played". When opening in Provo the jerseys in blue have come out victorious over 72 percent of the time and have won 5 of its last 6. Absolutely an awesome stat but it also a new year. Its time to throw on the pads, helmets, cleats and lay it all out on the field!
